One of our brands of socialism is our war with Afganistan and Iraq, as you have probably seen the costs of Iraq has gone up by 50% and for Afganistan by 100% this year.

Friendly little bombs.

that isn't socialism and the war is being funded by deficit spending not fuel taxes, but if you use your brains you might think that the weakness of the dollar is caused by the deficit spending and the weakness of the dollar is causing the oil to cost us more

I should have pointed out that I'm over here on the other side of the pond, does it really matter which pocket you take your money from it still costs. And the other brainwave we have been having over here is nationalising a bank, about 200 billion dollars worth, socialists supporting free enterprise I suppose.

Our capitallistic brains have been going around the world buying up bad deals.

Were all crapping ourselves about the food supply chain, how will it hold up under oil pressure?

For the most part, that was your choice. Buying gas isn't a choice for most of us and please don't say get a job closer to home.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

My J.W. Blue label costs a lot more than your coffee, what does that have to do with the price of tea in china...or the price of gas on the turnpike in this case.

And even if you do live close to work, the increase in the price of oil leads to an increase in the price of EVERYTHING.

I guess I was misunderstood. While I feel for the people who are really affected by gas prices the fact is that most of us have not changed our life style. I still had enough to pay for outrageously priced coffee.

Ahh. It's easy for stuff to get lost in translation on the internet.

Personally, I dont think these gradual mark-ups are going to EVER get us to change our lifestyles. I think it would take a real jolt for that to happen.

We all have out vices I guess, but as far as changing lifestyles, with the way things are, some of the changes I've made are cutting back on dining out to perhaps 1 or 2 times a month, going to basic cable (just HBO) none of the extra channels like Showtime, Cinemax, Starz or Encore which by the way, all the do is repeat the same movies over and over, besides all I need is the YES network (::chanting::: Let's go Yankees!, clap clap....clap clap clap) and oh yes, cutting back on Yankee games at the Stadium, doing my own landscaping instead of paying for it (gasp)...let's see what else...oh yes, no more DD coffee everyday for my commute and I'm bringing my own lunch to work (leftovers usually)....I rather cut back now and still manage to live somewhat of a comfortable life. oh yes, in case no one noticed today, Barrel of oil is at $110....can you say $5 for gas?

ah, because that would require something called "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY" for your life and lord knows it's much easier to whine and complain and lay the blame on others.
