not necessarily and you will enjoy the convenience of being close to where you are going to going anyway, when you factor in time and travel expenses you might see that staying in NJ is penny wise and pound foolish

I don't remember if you said exactly when you're going--it helps to book the hotel further in advance, but if you shop around, look online for discount rates, etc., you should be able to easily find a hotel in Manhattan for comparable rates to what you're going to find nearby in Jersey. To get something that's a significantly different rate, you'd have to get a hotel that's WAY out from Manhattan--maybe a 45 minute drive, or find a dump (which you could do in Manhattan, too).

I'll give you the address in a private message of a discount site I frequently use all the time for visiting various cities (I don't want to be perceived as advertising for them here).

Its called "the bring your own machine gun inn." Located on the Grand Concourse.

Seriously though there are 2 nice hotels right across the George Washington Bridge in New Jersey. Buses can bring you to right to Port Authority Bus terminal or GWB terminal.

1) Double tree/ Fort lee/G W bridge

Just make sure to head to the game EARLY!! The Bridge gets incredible amounts of traffic before Yankee games
