We are going to look at some condos there near the Metuchen train station. Franklin Square I think is the name. How are the schools? I hear Metuchen has a cute town. What kind of stores are there?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Metuchen has very good schools. It is a safe, nice town that can get congested with traffic. but - you cant go wrong living there

I agree with the previous poster that you can't go wrong with Metuchen.

I have never been inside the Franklin Square homes but have heard they are very spacious.

Metuchen doesn't have a supermarket but there are so many in Edison so a lot of people go there esp. to the A&P on Amboy Ave. There has been a lot of debate about putting in an upscale market on the corner of Lake Ave and Route 27. This is very close to Franklin Square and some there are worried about the congestion this will cause. Here is the link through gmnews.com for more info on that project: http://ems.gmnews.com/public/results...&Search=Search

Metuchen has lots of great restaurants with in walking distance to where you would be...

Seafood: Dick's Dock. Absolutely delicious but not much for atmosphere and is slow but well worth it.

Italian: There are quite a few but my pick is Main St. Trattoria

There's also Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and maybe Korean.

Oh and Fresco my favorite deli. The food is absolutely delicious and the guys who own it are really friendly....

As far as shops, there are two small drug stores.... Boyt's has a really nice gift section too. There is also Variety Village which is like a small Woolwoorth's, some book stores and more. You are very close to Menlo Park Mall if you need something else.

The schools both public and private are great. I'm not sure if you have kids or not but Miss Dawn's dancing school also runs a children's community service type organization called Kids in Production which gets children involved in plays to benefit those in need.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Good luck!
