Hello,

We are flying into Newark and would like to use a cab/Uber to Cape Liberty Cruise Port. Is it required to have a car seat in the vehicle or are cabs/Uber released from using car seats?
I have seen that Uber does not offer Car Seat Cars in NJ other than in NYC.

Does the cruise company offer shuttle services from the airport?

If not I'd consider calling a car service to schedule a ride with car seat.

Not required. You can ride with the baby/kid in a baby carrier that you're wearing. If you need a car seat, you can call Uber support and have them order you one that has a car seat available. NJ does have ubers with car seats.

Uber drivers are not required to HAVE car seats... however child passengers are required to BE in car seats.
NJ has some of the most strict car seat laws in the country.

Here is a summary:
Birth to age 2: A child under age 2 and under 30 lbs. must be in a rear-facing car seat with a five-point harness. That means toddlers who are tall or have long legs must remain rear-facing until age 2 even if their knees are bent and their feet are pressed against the back seat of the car.

Ages 2 to 4: A child under age 4 and 40 lbs. must remain in either a rear-facing or a forward-facing car seat with a five-point harness in the back seat of a vehicle.

Ages 4 to 8: Children must remain in a car seat or a booster seat in the back seat of a vehicle until they are at least 8 years old or 57 inches tall. Once they reach that age or height, they can use the regular adult seat belts.

Age 8 and above: A child age 8 and older can sit in a regular seat using a seat belt. However, the New Jersey law does not specify when children over age 8 can move from the back seat to the front seat. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends children not sit in the front seat until age 13.

Interestingly, apparently car seats are an option baked into the Uber app:
https://www.uber.com/info/nyc-car-seat/

Lyft is also doing the same thing in select cities:

NYC taxis and limos are exempt from car seat laws but NJ ones are not.

Call a "professional" car service and request a car seat. They have them. They will charge you more, but it is worth it.
