I am wanting to move for other reasons as well. I have family in new jersey, so I am looking into going that way. but im open to any advice. lived in the town im at for the last 20 years, very ready for a change and move where my children ages 13 and 14 can have some good experiences, better education and quality of life.

There's a sticky at the top of the forum you should look at and answer, you'll get much better answers to your question.

Surely the OP has a housing budget in mind. We need to have a fairly specific idea of that housing budget.

More than likely, she has a preference as to urban, or suburban, or rural housing.
She may also want/need access to public transit...or not.
As was already stated, we need a LOT more input from the OP before we send her on a wild goose chase all over the State of NJ.

budget is 600 per month, plan on getting a job or 2 as soon as I get there. coming with kids, a dog and cat. thinking about buying a rv /trailer , parking it somewhere if anyone knows of a park that allows that. that will be until I buy something there. I have family in Hazlet, Tuckerton, Princeton, Hamilton, Brooklyn,New York, Pittsburg, ect. ...so I can be close to any of those towns. not picky leaving a bad situation..

You don't actually do anything, but if you go back to the main NJ forum to see all the threads the top few threads start with "Sticky," which means they are stuck to the top of the forum, they don't get bumped down as new threads are started.

Anyway, you want to look at this:

Also, $600 a month is going to leave you very few options without roommates and your kids, dog, and cat are all going to make that very difficult.

I think you should ask various family members if they can put you up for a week or so once you get here to let you find a place. It's going to be very difficult to find one that you consider suitable/large enough without looking it over, it's also going to be hard for anyone to rent to you without evidence of a job.

It costs about that much a month just to park a trailer in a trailer park community in NJ.
