I am thinking of buying a new home in chesterfield, nj. Toll brothers is the builder. I have concerns over the fact that a farm was on the land where my new home will be build. Does anyone have any information on if the pesticides used on the could be harmful? Are there any regulations concerning this?

I just purchased a home from Hovnanian in the same place. The foundation was poured last week. We looked at both Toll Bros and Hovnanian and found the deal from Hovnanian to be much better. Feel free to PM or email me for more information.

As for the land, I don't know whether the land was horse farms, or produce. Either way, the land was cleared for this development and land transfers completed more than 5 years ago, so there have not been pesticides used, if at all, during that time.

I believe that nic529 has lived in Chesterfield for a while, he might be able to shed more light on the "land-use" question.

A friend of mine lives in CHesterfield and had Toll Brothers build her home. Hers was in the 750k range. She pays 14,000 a year for taxes. But she now wants to move to PA! lol...It is a beautiful home though.

I think you can contact the town hall and get the questions about the pesticides.

I am a New Jersey DEP radon specialist and if your buying in Chesterfield you need to know that its a DEP Tier One radon zone.....its a high incidence area.......Tier One means at least 25% of the tests in that area have an unsafe level.....if your buying there get a radon test !
