When my son was 14, I had to drive him to school for 6 months because had a (possibly cancerous) tumor removed from his knee. That folding wheelchair was a serious pain.

I say both "you're welcome" and "no problem." As I think about it, I am probably saying the latter not as a substitute for the former but when I actually DO think it is no problem. As in, whatever I just did was not such an inconvenience to me that I barely even think of it as doing you a favor, and so I really don't even need you to thank me. More likely than not, whatever I just did for you should be expected of me as common sense decency, and if I DiD NOT do it, then if anything, you should think of me as a jerk.

People who speak Spanish say "De Nada" as their version of "You're Welcome." Of course that literally translates to "It's Nothing", which is effectively the same as "No Problem." "De Rien" is the French translation and means the same thing. So it's not like it's wrong to say "No Problem." These are by far the most popular ways to say it in these languages, just as English speakers think the default is "You're Welcome."
