We will be moving from Chicago to Princeton, NJ. My husband will be travelling daily to Hoboken for work. Need your input about the different ways to travel safely and quickly. Thanks!

NJ Transit (Northeast Corridor Line) from Princeton Junction.
Get off at Newark & get on the PATH Train.

Howard Stern's Dad once told him, "Don't be stupid you moron". The rest made for a good movie.
Actually PATH I believe would require 2 trains (3 total including NJ Transit).
Switching at Secaucus for a Hoboken bound NJ Transit is probably better.
But in reality, that commute sucks more than Princeton-MidtownNYC commutes do.
If you're husband's job hours are flexible, and employer offers parking, driving would be the quickest way. If you leaves really early or really late, there's not so much traffic on i-95
Traveling quickly? I am sure I am not the only one snickering over that. The answer is between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m.
OP, you do realize you are moving to the most densely populated state in the nation and that a few hundred thousand people are traveling in that same direction at the same time every day, right?
Your best bet is to come here ready to accept reality.
The best way to commute between Princeton and Hoboken is to drive to Secaucus Junction, park there, then take the train from Secaucus Junction to Hoboken.
The drive uses the New Jersey Turnpike, a 12-lane highway that suffers less traffic congestion than other area roadways. Exit 15X connects the New Jersey Turnpike directly to Secaucus Junction parking lots. Trains run between Secaucus Junction and Hoboken every 5 to 10 minutes and the train ride takes 10 minutes.
The door to door trip will take roughly 90 minutes, but it will be reliably 90 minutes and be a 2-seat ride, unlike journeys that depend on multiple train trips.

Unless it is vital that you live in Princeton, I would not recommend that commute. It will get old fast.
If the OP decides that driving is the best option, I hope that she considers the cost of parking in Hoboken.
It won't be cheap because it will be necessary to pay for a space in a pricey parking garage.

That's a good point. I always assume people know that when they are driving into an urban area they will need to pay for parking most likely
