Deetz.

In your original post, you mentioned that your daughter is a certified NJ EMT.

Is she actually working as a EMT? If so, she will be interacting with Police on every shift that she works.

Because of that professional exposure to Police, she should have a fairly good idea what the reality is of being a law enforcement officer.

XXX.

i dont understand why someone working as an EMT would consider becoming a cop a position that would help make a difference in the world. as a cop, you are arresting people for using drugs which is everyone's right, so you are a stormtrooper carrying out the will of lord vader. you are harassing people driving to work or anywhere over the crown's laws. a lot of people hate you because you are the bad guy. as an emt, you are actually helping to save people's lives. you are making a big difference for people and deserve to be respected by everyone. when you respond to a call, you help people, you dont shoot them. dont be a cop.

the police are the hammer of the state. there are no good cops because the state isnt good. as an individual that wishes to be a good person, i would avoid being a cop. as someone who wants to figure out how to make law enforcement better, i would suggest certain things need to happen. police would have to start enforcing the law when police break it and the politicians need to eliminate tyrannical laws. i dont know how to accomplish that.

she may love it, it's a calling for many of them. Don't let here degree restrict her horizon. Cops are kinda picky, they may hire one out of twenty-five applicants. Many police officers have at least a bachelor degree these days in more urban areas.

Actually, having a bachelor's degree is a hiring requirement nowadays with many police departments, be they urban, or suburban, or rural.

Many police hires are political/nepotism at least where I live, and yes they do hire them with no experience. I am sure you would have to cast a wide net. I noticed many female police are butch, I guess due to this is a male dominated field.
