I support this. It helps passenger rail and reduces car traffic

whatever the cost, it is grossly underestimated. The initial estimates for infrastructure projects are always a low balled to avoid public outrage.

Trump knows that NY/NJ overspends, he knows from decades in NY construction and dealing with the corrupt unions and politicos, and why he won't approve the NorthEast Corridor/Gateway project. Construction projects in NJ are very corrupt. A NJ highschool taxes property owners to spend $3million on upgrading a football field that should cost no more than $500k. Oops, someone got rich.

I sincerely doubt that Trump in any way is not approving the Gateway funding out of some sense of fiduciary duty. Get real.

He's not approving it because a) he is in a snit with Chuck Schumer and b) because his base constituents in the middle states think of it as a New York City project and having no impact on the country.

GOP members tried to reject funding for Hurricane Sandy recovery, ie Ted Cruz. NJ is notorious for corrupt spending from the eyes of the rest of nation.

the federal government should eliminate the federal gas tax and have nothing to do with local road/transit projects.

Yet funding for Gateway is going ahead despite feelings by His Orangeness.

The man is a political naïf and quite frankly an egit. Meanwhile there are those in Congress who have been doing this for years, thus know how to get something financed even over any objections from WH.

DT's eyes likely gloss over and stops reading at first page of funding bills; he signs what is put in front of him because the guy likes to attach his name to things.
