Considering a move from Long Island to Bloomfield need some opinions (Montclair: homes, neighborhood)

Hi all!
My wife and I are considering moving from Long Island to Bloomfield. We have a photography business where most of our clients/shoots are in NJ and logistically it just makes more sense to move. We've been looking at towns that are within a close proximity to Long Island (hour and a half) so we can still visit our families. We wanted a town in a nice neighborhood, close to parks/restaurants/transportation/safe as well as safe from an investment standpoint in case we find ourselves moving in a couple of years. Not looking to make a ton of money if we end up moving just not losing anything. We've looked in Maplewood, West/South Orange, the Caldwells, Verona, and Montclair. We really loved the Verona area near Verona Park but none of the homes really checked off what we need (home based studio space/meeting area for clients), South Orange seemed nice but again none of the towns checked everything off. Then our realtor recommended viewing a home in Bloomfield (about 5 homes away from Brookdale Park as well as across the street from one of those gas lamps) between Montclair and Glen Ridge. It sounds like if we want it we should be bidding over asking price. It's basically at the top of our budget which we are comfortable with, but I want to make sure this is a good area. Is it on the rise? Is it safe? Aside for the elementary school being a blue ribbon school, are the other schools really that bad? Is that section as great as the realtor was telling us?

Yes that section of Bloomfield is quite nice and safe. That is where I would like to buy if I stay in Bloomfield. Are you interested in the schools? It's zoned to Brookdale Elementary, which is highly rated and sought after. The middle and high schools are not rated high though.
I also love the area by Verona Park you mentioned and that would be my first choice.

Is Verona in more of an upswing than that section in Bloomfield?
That area of Bloomfield is great. I have many friends that live in that area and love it. Very safe, neighbors are all friendly, and Brookdale park is second to none. The high school is getting better, so they'll be much better by the time your kids get there. That being said, it's a very desirable areas so be prepared to go into bidding wars and bid high.
