Hi,

We have a house (4 bds & 2 ba) in Nutley. Initially, when we bought this house in 2009 (~400K), the primary factor was a reasonable commute to the city because my wife and I were both working in Brooklyn.

Currently, I am working in Morristown, and my wife is home with two boys (7 & 3). We are looking to move to a different town with better schools. Under 750K and 4 bedrooms minimum.
Here are some of the criteria that are important to us:

1. Excellent schools (Pre/elementary/middle/high.)
2. A 30 minute or less commute to Morristown.
3. Family friendly neighborhood.
4. A positive town attitude towards mixed couples/diversity. We are a mixed couple. I am Indian American (East Asia), and my wife is American.

We are looking at Livingston, Chatham, and New Providence. Any other towns we should consider? We plan to stay in this place for 10+ years.

New Providence and Berkeley Heights are great towns. You should be able to get a solid 4 bedroom house for 750k. Madison and Chatham will get you closer to Morristown and you will get a little less house for 750k. All four are great towns and fit your criteria.

Randolph. Good schools and many houses are within your budget.

Other towns to consider are Chester, Long Valley, Mount Olive and you would get a big carriage/estate home in your budget with more rural setup. Houses would be far better than the one you can find in Madison, Chatham in your budget. All the three towns have got good school ratings and have newer homes.
