I am looking for affordable, fun, somewhat safe neighborhoods to move to in the Persippany area. I am a mountain biker and salsa dancer, and would like to live somewhat close to those options.
Any and all help on leads is super appreciated!!!

Morristown sounds like a good place to look.

How about living right in Parsippany? Overall the town is very safe and affordable. I assume you're going to have to go to work every day, and you're probably not going to be salsa dancing or mountain biking on a daily basis. So it's always best to live as close to your job as possible and not waste time commuting.

I second that. As a former resident, I can attest that Parsippany is not the most exciting place and very family-oriented (which is obviously great for some, but doesn’t sound like it’s what the OP is seeking). Most of the apartments in Parsippany are populated by South Asian families - Morristown will be way more fun. And Lewis Morris Park is right there which is a good after work mountain biking spot. Boonton is another option right next door to Parsippany and might be a bit more affordable than Morristown. Boonton has a cute downtown and a bit less family-oriented since the schools aren’t considered as good as surrounding towns.

Both in Morristown and Boonton you might have to be a bit selective with neighborhoods, though. If a place is cheap, it might be cheap for a reason, but neither town has Camden levels of sketchiness. Denville is also next to Parsippany and has a downtown (I believe with a dance studio) - VERY safe town and I don’t think there are any sketchy parts, but it is a more family-oriented town. Both Boonton and Denville border the Tourne Park which is another great spot for after work mountain biking.

Boonton Township....Good schools, convenient to highways, public transportation, most homes are on one acre.....lived here for 2 decades.....it’s idyllic!

How extreme is your mountain biking? Morristown has plenty of places to mountain bike, and if you travel up north there are great places too. As for salsa dancing, i'd say your chances are very limited in Morris County, probably places in Jersey City or maybe Montclair (there are places to do it, but it's just really a big thing in NJ). On the other side, when you get closer to NYC there are less places to Mountain bike. I'd say pick one.

Cuba Mia in Parsipanny is a good spot for dinner and salsa dancing.
