Hi folks,

Finally I got a job offer and we are now looking for a nice spacious 2-3 bd apt/home at the end of April. I have secured admission in the DaySpring preschool and I am looking for a place that is close to the train station as well. We are a family of 4, no pets. I can come over the weekend to check out the houses.

1) Any areas I am better off avoiding?

2) Any good realtors this forum can vouch for to help me with apartment search? I have already posted on CraigsList.

3) Also, where can I find local help to help with the unloading of stuff from my Uhaul?

4) Any apartment/condo complexes you might recommend?

Thanks in advance!!

Default Also: a Q about taking bikes on NJTransit to the city during peak hours

Hi,

Are there any issues with taking a bike into the city during office times? Has anyone faced problems with that?

Thanks!!

Congrats on the job offer. Metuchen is a pretty nice area. You'll be close to 3 train station there: Edison, Metuchen and Metro Park. Check Rent.com for some listings of apt. complexes.
Re: the bike on NJ transit, you'll be lucky to even find a seat, it's like a pack of sardines during peak time!

What part of CT are you from? I'm from Monroe!

All depends on your price range but to find a rental try the following:

- Contact an agent who is good with the area

- craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums

- Apartments.com - Free Nationwide Apartment Search with the Most Visual Rental Listings Online.

- Apartments for Rent and Homes for Rent

I think you should be able to do well with either an agent or craigslist though. That should be more than enough.

I guess the question should be: Can the authorities refuse to let me board my bike on the train? I can board before Metropark because I guess that is where the crowd gets in.

you may want to check out the nj transit website. You can take your bike (that's so funny -not too many people ride bikes as much as they used to) but they do not allow bikes between certain hours.

here's the link; New Jersey Transit

Sure, you can take your bike on the train- at any hour other than the hours that 99.9% of all travelers need to use the train

Thanks all; the answer from the website is NO. I cannot take the bike on the train to NYC.

Hopefully, I get more answers to my main question above.

Try Phyllis Fanelli at Weichert in Metuchen (pfanelli@weichert.com).

She helped us find our house in Metuchen 2 years ago and last year she helped my wife's cousin find a place in Edison.
