What districts don't close for Good Friday? I think districts close based on the composition of their district. My district would probably have 20% absentee rate on Yom Kippur but I see other districts in the same county that are open Yom Kippur.

When I worked for a large NJ school district they wouldn't even call Yom Kippur by its' name in the calendar. They called it an "Administrative holiday".

Hell, my school district closed for a snow day, even though everyone was being schooled at home anyway. So what's the big deal about closing for a holiday?

A snow day when everyone is home inside learning virtually?? What BS.

And this is exactly why countries like China will surpass the US.

I see you know squat . You do realize that the Teachers still need to travel to school to do the lessons or aren't you smart enough to figure that out? Reason for snow day safety and welfare of the Teachers!

In our case, our teachers are all teaching from home.

Ours tried that in the beginning but discovered that they were more comfortable and had better resource's doing it from school .All our schools are doing that and found out that the local Teachers were doing a better job of it than the bigger exclusive online Teaching schools some had started with.

Ours taught from school when they were doing the hybrid weeks, but when that stopped, they went back to teaching from home.

The reason they gave for taking the snow day, was to give the children a feeling of normalcy.

Maybe there is some truth to that, but a part of me thinks it is because that is a free day off that they would otherwise have to give up.
