Disney and budget don’t exactly go hand in hand. But anyhow, you should probably as in the California forum.

Or change your request to Disneyworld.

There is no such thing as a budget trip to Disney. And the lower end hotels are not places I would opt to stay, you would be far more comfortable staying off-site than in one of those. I'm pretty sure you have an idea of the costs involved since you are planning two years out. This site has some good tips for minimizing the sticker shock: https://www.themouseforless.com/

Having said that, we've been maybe a dozen times, and never regretted a trip.

Halloween 2020 is over 2 years away. Why are you trying to start planning now? Disney properties and events are constantly changing. There is very little you can do to plan at this point. I have friends that go there every couple years and they usually plan no more than 4-6 months in advance.

With that said, this thread has nothing to do with NJ. Try posting on the Travel forum: //www.city-data.com/forum/travel/

Maybe OP is posting here because lots of people from NJ, and all over the country even, go to Disney (though from around here, more likely to go to Disney World) and he or she thought we'd have some input. OP, if you are interested in either of the Disneys, there is a NJ guy called Disney Dave who is an expert on the Disney parks (people in my area seem to love him and recommend him all the time on local town FB groups) and apparently will book everything for you. Maybe reach out to his travel group, here's his site.

I would contact a Disney planner. I don't know about your social circles but I have at least two of my close friends that do it. They don't cost anything as they get paid by Disney, but they are resources you should use when planning.

Criticized by whom?

There are a lot, and I mean A LOT of frugal Disney planning advice but it all comes down to the same thing: It costs a lot, avoid staying on property if you can, avoid eating in any restaurants if you can, but be aware that it's an expensive holiday and even saving 10% should be seen as a victory.

But definitely get in touch with a Disney planner, if you don't know any PM me and I'll give you some names. They're all free for you to use.
