When is the last time Trenton wasn't run by dems? No matter the party affiliation of the gov?
I don't have brilliant plans to make NJ better. Do you? Please share the details of if so...
However, if you haven't noticed? A democratically run NJ hasn't been working for decades. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that the dems have put us where we are.
But keep voting them in!
My elected town officials are 90% dems. The town has been in the hand of dems for a minimum of 60+ years & the corruption is pathetic. Apparently always has been.
My town (that I just moved out of, thankfully) has a recall against a council member.
When he doesn't get his way? He claims "racism".
Google "Rajiv Prasad".
You can't make his kind of stupid up - but his base (huge majority are of the same ethnic background) will keep voting for him b/c he's "like them". Nothing else goes in to that vote from those folks & that's why he thinks he can get his way about any opinion/pet project, etc. of his . When there is push back from the township/community at large? He claims "racism" & his "base" show up to defend the indefensible. And end up looking just as dumb as Prasad does.
/eyeroll.
Voting Democrat to fix New Jersey is the equivalent of smoking cigarettes to cure your lung cancer.

Voting for Republicans to fix New Jersey is the equivalent of inviting bank robbers to run the bank. They will lower taxes on their rich friends, increase deficits, devastate infrastructure, stop retirement contributions and see huge increases in property taxes to compensate. And then maybe they want a promotion...

A two-party dominant political system is also a huge part of the problem.
Given that the Republicans are likely to hold the senate anyway, maybe it's time to jettison Menendez. And this way NJ would have someone in the room in the Senate when decisions are being made.

Proof....we're always on the bottom of the states getting fed money back. It's time for a change.
That is exactly what I was thinking.
It would make sense to have one Senator from each of the major political parties. It would greatly improve New Jersey's (or any state for that matter) bargaining position and the ability to bring home the bacon. And this is especially true now because the Senate looks like it is going to remain Republican and the President is also a Republican and from the state next door. This might be an opportunity for New Jersey to get some Federal money.
I am not saying this should be the deciding factor for voting for Hugin but it should at least be a consideration, especially if you are on the fence.
The senate is not going to change hands whether Menendez is elected or not. So it is not rational to vote for him to stop Trump. Only the house will become democratic, not the senate. The republicans may actually gain a few senate seats as it is.
That won’t change any minds because it’s not about Trump. People want to justify voting for a person who was indicted on federal corruption charges by making the Trump excuse because they don’t want to admit to themselves that they are a slave to a political party.
when I voted independent, trump and christie got elected
That’s not why they got elected. I talked about this with t206 (also from nj) on the political forum. He is voting independent. Good for him. People blame independents when their party loses. But, the real reason a person loses in an election with high independent candidate votes is usually because their party ran a crappy candidate. The solution is to vote for better candidates in the primaries, not to vote for crappy lesser of two evils candidates.
