I agree. At some point (age is a good cutoff), seniors should be off the hook for the school portion of property taxes.
While that is "nice" it would push the taxes up on everyone else. Mostly the middle class,
So NJ will have nothing left by the Seniors (who would be except to Ed Taxes) and the poor who don't pay enough Property taxes (or income/sales taxes) to cover the education there kids are using.
The Middle Class would leave, (Faster then they are now).
But your desire for less people goes against Murphy's desire to be accepting of more illegals. In your definition, are illegals considered desirable or not?
The "illegals" are here because they want to be here and so they can make a living. They are not complaining about the "high cost of living" in NJ. It would be cheaper for them to have stayed in their home country, but they know there is opportunity here. They contribute to society and (presumably) pay taxes. I don't have a strong opinion one way or another.
No one ever imagined a socialist like Murphy would be elected. Sure, another democrat would be elected, but the democrat party of old has been hijacked by the far left. Democrats can't be happy with that change.
Maybe if the republican party of old hadn't been hijacked by the extreme far right, the democrats wouldn't have had to move so far left. Speaking as a Democrat, I am more than happy to move into the Socialist realm. It's about time there is some consideration for the workers of the country rather than just the corporations and rich.

I wouldn't be so sure about them paying taxes. In the last year I hired 2 different companies to do work/construction at my house and in both cases they offered me a "cash discount". These were both legit companies, but who knows what they have going on behind the scenes.

Citizens (and businesses run by citizens) have been doing this for decades.

Yup!
I have been offered that "cash discount" scenario by a large number of lily-white, non-Hispanic, US-born business owners over the past 20 years or so.

You're assuming that being lily white means they are legal?

Yes, it does, in my experience.
In my case, the three that come most readily to mind are the following:
A handyman who was born in the same Brooklyn neighborhood as I was, albeit a decade or so later.
The owner of a NJ lawn service company, whose family name was the same as my mother's maiden name. Detailed questioning revealed that he was a very distant cousin of mine, and his branch of the family--like my mother's family--had been in The US since the early 1800s. Unfortunately, I didn't get the "relative discount" but--of course--I qualified for the "cash discount".
The son of my next-door neighbor, who was born after we both moved to this NJ neighborhood.

Illegals don't have to worry about the high cost of living here because they hardly pay any taxes, and gets lots of freebies paid for by the people that do pay taxes. Besides, you are the one that said you wanted LESS people here to free up the roads. I don't see how welcoming the whole world that according to you, wants to be here, accomplishes that.
You are contradicting yourself.
