curious if anyone has spent any "significant" time in both of these counties or is at least somewhat familiar with both that can give a high-level overview of the similarities and differences between the two.

thanks!

Westchester is more expensive housing-wise/has higher taxes.

Monmouth County has an ocean and more farmland, especially on the western side. More horses.

Westchester is more densely developed/congested.

Monmouth more county parkland, open space.

I have family in White Plains and I live in Monmouth County. They have more diversity and better access to the city. We have the beach.

I live in Monmouth County, am white, have black neighbors on one side and Malaysian neighbors on the other. Not seeing the lack of diversity.

Westchester does have better access to the city, unless you're thinking of Staten Island.

My cousin's neighbors on either side are black, the high school population is still 84% white. My sister's immediate neighbors are all white, the high school is 28% white.

NJ school districts are so small it's rare to have a truly diverse student body.

True, I really don't know what the regional high school student population looks like because I moved to where I live after my daughter graduated from her Bergen County high school, which was primarily white.

I just don't see that Westchester is so much more diverse than Monmouth, which was the claim. I suppose that information exists somewhere...maybe right here on City-Data!

ETA:

Well, here we go. Yes, Westchester has a higher percentage of non-white residents than Monmouth:
