Yes I know. Houston is just the city. 5 million. 10 million in the Dallas Fort Worth area. That’s worse. Feels like everyone is at the same place at the same time

These are the areas we are considering. Bernardsville,Basking Ridge,Chatham and Scotch Plains. We’d really like to live somewhere pretty with nice people and things to do with a nice Highschool attached. We can only see so much on google. Any insight on the differences in lifestyle, amenities and attitudes as well as schools would be really appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance. We are very excited to be moving to New Jersey.
If your husband is going to work in Woodbridge (MetroPark Area), then Metuchen to me makes sense. It takes 15 minutes via route 27 from downtown Metuchen to MetroPark. Traffic on Route 287 is absolutely crazy on both directions all the time and everyday; so anything from up north is a suicide wish. Cranford could also be a candidate since it takes about 15 minutes to get to Woodbridge via Walnut Ave South and then route 35. These two towns are good and nowhere near as snotty as Millburn/Short Hills.

Far Hills and Milburn are a definite no go but I think we’d like a little more room. Less crowded. He’s used to a 45 min commute so we are looking a little further out.

Sounds like the towns you mentioned will be good choices. I'm not a fan at all of Houston (just an oil worker town with humid weather), so it will be nice for the seasons, but will be much colder!

Houston is mostly oil and gas and tons of doctors and medical care workers. It has the largest medical center in the USA. The trade will be 5 months of summer for five months of winter. but that’s ok we all love to ski!! We will miss no state income taxes and the very low cost of living. Property taxes are similar so no change there. Really loving Basking Ridge so hopefully we will find something there. Thanks for your comments.
