I'm going through some financial difficulties right now, and I need something that has a flexible schedule. I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about driving for Lyft. I've heard a lot of mixed things about it. I know that you're responsible for your own taxes and other expenses of driving.
I don't have the experience with it, but I'd say it depends on when/where you're going to be doing the driving in NJ. If you're going to be doing it around EWR, Jersey City, and Hoboken, you'll probably get quite a bit of business, especially on holiday weekends at EWR and almost every late weekend night in JC and Hoboken. I'm sure some will have you pick up from there and go into Manhattan too, and the rider's fare covers the toll cost I believe. Don't quote me on that. If in South Jersey, a huge number of Lyft drivers I've seen in Philly have been NJ plates.
My dd has done some Lyft driving, but not in NJ. She says Lyft treats its drivers better than Uber, though.
I tell ya what, I thought I was going to miss my train late tonight in Newark (just made it by seconds) and I was ready to pay $60 for car service rather than sit an hour at Newark Penn this time of night. I'm sure I am not unique.
I drove for Lyft a few nights a week when I was saving up for my wedding. I found it worth it at night time. Day time there’s too many cars in the road to make any worthwhile money.
