Hello people. I am a 40 year old white male looking to raise a family, which includes 3 kids and 1 baby. We just want a nice and peaceful neighborhood with good schools.

Is Camden, New Jersey a good place for this?

Camden is #8 on the list of the 100 most dangerous US cities....

Not to worry, 15 round magazines have been outlawed and 10 round mags now the new max. that alone has career criminals and violent gang members/ repeat felons crying 'uncle'!

As we are now a sanctuary state and attract thousands of illegal aliens who local cops cannot alert ICE if any are arrested for felonies, NJ, Camden especially, safest place on earth!

For the most part, Camden is a safe upper middle class area that also happens to have some pretty neat Philly views.

I can't speak on the school quality since I don't have any kids there but greatschools and schooldigger both rank them 9/10. Supposedly its the 4th best in the state right behind Millburn, Princeton and Tenafly.

I've always kinda thought of Camden as a South Jersey version of Hoboken. Quaint but with urban energy is probably the best way to describe it

I really hope this is a joke.

You could literally send in a cavalry of 50,000 hipsters and the city would still fail to gentrify/improve.

Camden across the river from Philly? I would take the positive reviews posted so far with about 2 pounds of salt. It may be improving but I would hardly call it a hidden gem. Check out the Philly suburbs forum on CD.

Is it safe?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOO!!!!!!!

Stay away at all costs if you value your safety and potential loss of life.

It has it's own "nightlife".

You may also want to check out Trenton and North Philly before making the final decision. The badlands section of North Philly is considered to be the most desirable neighborhoods in the entire city with gorgeous colonial architecture and an overall warm, safe and friendly atmosphere.

There's really so many great options out there so don't pigeon-hole yourself to one area. Here's few questions to help narrow down your search:

Is the commute a concern at all?

Do you have a budget?
