Hey there,
So I recently got a job offer in Trenton and I'm trying to figure out which city would be a good fit for me as I've never been to New Jersey. I currently live in Vegas and I like having an active nightlife. Trenton seems a little small, but very affordable. I'm a single 26 F young professional looking for a city in Jersey with an active nightlife and a lot of young professionals. I'm willing to commute up to an hour. I've heard good things about Hoboken and Jersey City, but they are a 90 minute commute from what it looks like and that seems a bit far. Any recommendation helps!
New Brunswick might work. It has a huge student population but also a fair amount of non-student nightlife downtown. Otherwise, how about Center City Philadelphia?

You could move to New Brunswick.
And be within commuting train to NYC.
However, even with the train, there will be a significant nightlife shock moving from Las Vegas.
I worked in Trenton in the mid 1970s and wound up living along the Delaware River on the PA side. New Hope PA across from Lambertville NJ. Both relatively small towns compared to large metros, New Hope is quite a partying town even more so these days. About a 20 minute or so drive up the river.
Funny,,, nj dot com just ran an article today about the 33 best small towns in NJ, Lambertville which is directly across the river from New Hope came out as #1,,,
These are relatively small towns but not really far from everywhere else.
Trenton isnt anything like Vegas and wouldnt be considered a place to party but more of a place to be shot. Philly would be 45 minutes but many variables of where in Philly you are (its a huge city). New Brunswick is okay but way over rated as a fun place to be. College students tend to stay on campus and most are weekend home commuters, and nothing like Hoboken. Sorry but its kind of a tough place to be as a young adult, with nowhere ideal to be.
I think Fishtown in Philadelphia would probably be best for you. It’s a little north of Center Coty proper and this slightly closer to Trenton. But it’s also a very hot spot for young adults in your age range.
Unless your position in Trenton is for the state government, in which case you have to live in NJ. Then, I would say either New Brunswick, or the PATCO towns of Westmont (Haddon Township) or Collingswood. They will satisfy the living in NJ requirement but give you very easy access to Philadelphia, which I think would be preferable as its quality of nightlife is much closer to Vegas than New Brunswick’s would be.
Lambertville and New Hope are great but much more small towns than cities. You would be in for a huge culture shock moving from Vegas.
i think you should just move to philly and take the train into trenton
