Leonia, Teaneck, fort lee, englewood cliffs, parts of englewood, tenafly.
You didn’t list a budget, nor buy/rent.

Teaneck has below average schools. Englewood cliffs feeds into Dwight Morrow hs which is terrible, Englewood has terrible schools. Leonia and fort lee schools are good, not excellent. Look at Tenafly, Cresskill, Haworth, demarest, alpine, Closter. Try to avoid rt4 or 95/80 during rush hour because that traffic is heading across the gwb into the city and it’s bumper to bumper. If commuting during non rush hour, there are dozens of towns like Paramus, oradell, Ridgewood, glen rock.

That’s a low but possible budget for some of the towns l listed in post #3. Since your children are young you don’t need great schools yet, you can look in a town with lower ranked schools.

Well the good thing is you will have a lot of options (give you're ok with a commute of 30 minutes commute). NJ is an interesting area that its very diverse by town and a few minute drive you might be in a completely different town. If I was you guys, I would personally rent for 6 months to a year and figure out what area you really like (especially if you're planning on having roots or sending kids to school next year). On personal preference i'd choose Morris County and have a little longer commute over living in Bergen, but a lot of people think differently and live in Bergen. You should probably fill out the forum questionnaire and post in here so people can get more of an idea of what might be a good fit for you.

Probably a few degrees warmer and we get about 1/3 less snow a year Some years are worse than others, last year was very mild and we didn't have any major snow storms.

Let's see, Teaneck is on Route 4, so a commute during rush hour of 30-35 minutes will be...Teaneck, or one of the immediately-adjacent towns.

Slight exaggeration, but be prepared for the traffic here. We are the most densely populated state in the union, Teaneck is close to New York City and therefore on a main road to the George Washington Bridge, and the roads were not built for the number of cars all those people who live here drive.

foodyum gave you some good suggestions. Start there.

Thanks, that’s why I suggested the northern valley towns, they avoid the highways and they mostly have good schools.
