Hello,

This is probably going to come across as stupid to most of you, but I just wanted to get some opinions from the typical consumer. I want to (on the side) start up a painting business in which I operate solely on the weekends because I have a 9-5 M-F. So, I can't decide if I should use some sort of keyword such as "Weekend" in the business name for my LLC so that it stands out more and I don't let people down who are in need of a painter on a Monday to Friday basis. For example, "John's Weekend Painting, LLC". Would you consider this a turn off or a stupid idea to name a company like this? Would you just name your business a regular paint company name and then have to explain the details later on. I really appreciate your help - I have never had a business before so I'm really curious to what you think. Means a lot to get your feedback.

Thank you much.

I'd name it a regular name and then just tell people the only free slots I had at this time were on the weekends. It's not a detail, you're just letting them know your current availability means you can only work on their project on the weekends.

What if it goes really well and you eventually drop the 9-5 and paint full time, you know?

I agree with this. You could set up your business and have a basic website with the hours of availability as well as edit your info on Google to reflect the hours.

I'd name it something fun, like

P'aint no Sunshine
They See Me Rollin
Fools Brush In
Saturdays are for the Employs
Revampire Weekend

by giving it a weekend specific name, you are exposing that its not your regular job so people will expect a discount and probably be concerned about quality. so you are probably better off avoiding that.

Don't mention weekend @ all but when people ask to book you tell them the only availability is on the weekends. Don't even tell them about the 9-5. That way they think it isn't just that you don't paint during the week, but that you are getting so much business during the week, weekends is only when you can fit them in.

Think of it this way, if you needed your car fixed would you go to the person who openly told you this was kind of a hobby for them on the weekend or would you go to the person who you thought did it 40 hours a week and obviously had a ton of experience?
