Only places still worth going are Wildwood and LBI.
Everything else is White Trash Central ...
LBI is so boring. There are some nice beaches there, and it is nice if you want to spend a nice laid back summer day, but there is hardly anything to do there. No boardwalk, hardly any places for 20-somethings to go, annoying people... It is highly overrated. I can't comment on Wildwood as I haven't been there in years, but I will be making a trip.
Isn't Ocean City dry? I don't think it would draw in much of a twenty something crowd if it were dry. It is very nice - fun boardwalk if I remember correctly.
I started appreciating the JERSEY shore once i been to Myrtle Beach, that city has NICE CHEAP hotels but it's so damn far and NO BOARDWALK.. same thing with Florida, NO BOARDWALK.. so that makes jersey shore the best.
I'm with you Jacked! I have great memories as a kid, foggy but
fun memories as a teenager/young 20's and now I love taking my son there and/or hanging with my family. I LOVE SEASIDE! It really does look good. It is THE PLACE to party in the summer. There is no boardwalk in LBI right? You can't get a drink on the boardwalk in Wildwood and I haven't foud another beach area with that boardwalk excitement when it gets dark. I lived ON THE beach in SC and it didn't hold a candle to Seaside!
Dude, make up your mind ... Are you looking to get a drink and some quick a$$? Or are you looking for a place to take your kid??
If you're looking for the former, then Seaside's your place. But, if this is the place you're taking your kid, then you need to broaden your horizons a bit.

You’re absolutely right … If you’re in your 20’s and looking to chill, then LBI and Wildwood (with the exception of Memorial Day) have little to offer. But I’d even take Belmar and Point Pleasant over Seaside in terms of partying (unless you just turned 21 and haven’t experienced the corny XL/Bamboo thing yet).

I was showing that I had great memories from each stage of my life with Seaside. Child - twenties - and adult. As far as broadening my horizons, I lived on Saint John in the Virgin Islands for a year, my last home was on the beach in South Carolina, I've been to many beaches from NJ to Florida. I've seen quite a lot of beaches. Still love the boardwalk at Seaside. Not as pretty as many of the other places - but very unique and exciting! My son and I had a great family friendly time there over the weekend. He goes to bed at 8:00, so no...not out drinking and getting a$$. Those days are over, but I still love Seaside.

Don’t get me wrong, I also have a lot of great memories of Seaside. For 10 years, religiously, my summer was:
- Memorial Day: Wildwood
- July 4th: Seaside
- Labor Day: Belmar
GREAT memories!!! Now my dilemma is where does an early 30’s guy goes with his significant other during the summer? With the exception of Wildwood and LBI, there just doesn’t seem to be anything else out there for couples. Seaside, Belmar and Point Pleasant are all younger, singles crowds. It’s tougher than I thought trying to find something down the Shore for couples. But this is the first time I’ve heard anyone say they had a fun “family” experience in Seaside. It’s been awhile, so maybe I should check it out.
Spare me...I have great memories of Seaside when I was a kid too.
I'm not 20 something looking to score.
I'm not 30 something looking to score and/or party.
I'm 30 something with kids who would love to drive 45 minutes to a Jersey Shore boardwalk and not hear the foul language, have cig smoke blown in my face, see boobs and butts and make-out sessions every 2 feet I walk with my children.
Not the experience I had as a child going to Seaside. My parents started taking us to the Pt. b/c Sleazeside started earning it's name. (this is nothing new) It got a little WRONG when I was living in Pt. Pleasant and waiting table at Jenk's while I was in college. Fist pumpers galore...but they also brought their girlfriends - the hoochie mamma's. I never saw so many girls pulling out eachother's hair over some dude who drooled until I got satellite TV a few years ago. UNBELIEVABLE.
Then I got a summer job at Wurlitzer's in Piscataway. Gold mine until they dropped the dress code and No. NJ and Staten Island invaded...again. Guinney T-'s and half shirts (before they were in "style") all over the place. The poor bouncers were so busy after the invasion they got raises.
Then it turned into Pete's Wildlife and catered to the same morons who invaded the Jersey Shore. Shortly after, it went out of business and is now a nice dirt filled lot.
Fist-pumper's and their ilk will ruin any good thing.

If you are going to the shore you are going to see some boobs and butt - it is a "bathing" area and the girls (and guys) wear bathing suits (which are optional in some countries.) As far as the other stuff - I must be hitting Seaside when the stars are all alligned because I don't see/hear anything more than a bunch of kids begging to go on more rides or for some more money for the wheels. We are off the boardwalk before 9:00 - Maybe that has something to do with it - I don't know. I can't stand the language that I hear just moving along our daily lives or even on TV but I just don't see Seaside being any worse than what we experience going through our daily life.
