this comment is absolutely not relevant to what i am saying. you cant conjure up potential tragic outcomes in order to control people's behavior. they have a right to consumer whatever they want. that doesnt mean that they have a right to harm others.

your example is particularly silly since drinking alcohol is already legal. of course, if alcohol werent legal you would be arguing in favor of prohibition. you are just a person who worships government and thinks that politicians have a right to tell you what you can and cant do.

You said "the government has no right to stop people from getting their hands on any drugs". Most drugs are indeed legal, but you need a prescription to obtain them. Just like alcohol is legal, but you need to be 21 to obtain it. Why do you think the government has these laws? Just for the fun of it so they can "control" people? Obviously it is because when people use these things irresponsibly it can cause them to be in a state of mind in which they can do harm to others.

What can people who voted for him believing he was a reliable Democrat do now? Sue him for fraud?

the government has these laws because people have given the government more power than it has a right to have. just like you dont have the right to tell someone not to use drugs; you do not have the right to give the government rights that you dont have. it doesnt matter if there may be good intentions behind the law; it is infringement on people's rights.

the bottom line is that you have no right to have any say over what someone chooses to consume. that is the beginning and end of the argument.

Meh. D or R districts. There's no shortage of drug addicted oxygen wasters in many of them nation wide.
