This is so friggin funny. I've never heard of a vacation in Northern NJ.

I mean, I hear people book a hotel in NOrthern, NJ only to hang out in NY but is a vacation in NJ logical outside for visitng a friend or family member? I never heard of it.

I have heard of people going to Vernon for the weekend to go skiing or to the spa/resort there. But other than that, it's a hotel by the airport or the Meadowlands with easy transportation to Manhattan.

It does sound like an odd concept at first, but there are still folks who have vacation homes (though the lion's share are now year rounders) in a lot of the lake communities in Sussex and Passaic Counties. Plus the resorts up in the Vernon area like Mountain Creek, etc... Not to mention people who camp in the state parks.
