I found this link in a Reddit comment on the New Jersey subreddit: https://www.historicaerials.com/

It's basically a historical version of Google Maps. Don't use the historical aerial imagery on Google Earth, because Google Earth's historic image quality was horrible, also that only goes back to 1995.

The Historic Aerials sites goes all the way back to 1931. It will allow to go back to certain years depending on the location you are looking at.

Make sure to allow your browser to allow your location, because the site will take you to Phoenix by default.

It's so interesting how some parts of NJ were able to grow patches of woods back after farm land was given up. My street was basically a giant piece of farm land and the barn sat where my house sits today. In the 1979 imagery, it shows that there was a patch of woods behind my house that grew back although there was farm land. Like how is it possible for woods to suddenly grow back?

It looks like a portion the woods in Lurker Park (East Hanover) was a piece of farm land and the woods just grew back.

Some part of NJ had development at one point, but today some of those areas were abandoned and just remains as nature.

I hope nothing bad happens to that site. It's the only one I can find. I found some alternative, bu the maps don't load. Historic Aerials is the only site where you can truly get this stuff.

No it’s free, but the images have a watermark. If you want, you can buy images without the watermark.

We can't view the images without a watermark, unless you pay...
