It is a death sentence for the thousands of people who have died. I am grateful I live in a county that so far has relatively few cases and very few deaths. I can only hope that it stays that way. If you don't want to take it seriously, please stay home.

No, we can't know. I was in Bergen County, which has the highest rates in the state, with mymother when she died eight days ago, and then when I called 9/11 after I found her, two cops and 5 EMTs were in her house. Then the EMTs left, and I sat in the kitchen with the cops for an hour until they could get a release from the doctor and then the funeral director came over. We kept our distance, but ALL of these people are exposed to a lot of other people every day.
Plus my brother's drunkass girlfriend works at Acme at the deli counter and she had been coming to my mother's house until I yelled at my brother and told him to keep her away from our mother.
Pretty sure my mother didn't have the virus, because she had been checked out for temperature and cough/how she felt on Friday morning when she went to dialysis. There was no reason to think she did. She just went to sleep and didn't wake up.
But what about the others? The cops and the EMTs didn't have masks on, and neither did the funeral home people. That's why I wore a mask to the store today--in case I am carting anything around. I don't want to be Typhoid Mightyqueen.
Fort the 11 millionth time on these boards, the difference is those 80,000 people did not get sick and go into the hospital all at once. The reason we are taking the extreme measures that we are is to control to some extent however many are sick at once so hospitals aren't overwhelmed.
This is also nothing like flu. Doctors and nurses didn't die from treating flu patients. 42 year old assistant principals with no pre-existing conditions don't go from feeling a slight fever to dying on a vent a week later from flu. 4 members of one family that had dinner together don't all die from flu a week later.
If you look at NJ numbers of Covid-19, most of them are under 60, and many much younger. Here are stats from my area just from a couple of days:

My daughter works in a hospital in central jersey and was telling me how they have about 7 or 8 covid patients in their 20s there, 4 on vents.
