I had a woman in the city ask me for money for diapers and food for her baby once. She was about 60 years old. I laughed.
When I was in college in center city Philadelphia there used to be a panhandler with a dog who sat outside Wawa. I along with many others, gave him money because I was concerned if the dog had food, lol.

I saw people in lower Manhattan, the young white junkie contingent would sit on the street with a dog and even one with a cat. It's a sympathy ploy. They would pass the dog around. I'd see the same dog with different people on different days.
I had a woman carrying a baby ask me for money at the mall today. Anyone else encounter something similar? Seems like a new thing.
Sort of. The other day at the Short Hills Mall I had a 13 year old girl ask me for $600, for a pair of sneakers that looked like they were 30 years old.
I told her she's supposed to buy those sorts of things when she's with her mother and I'm supposed to think that they only cost fifty bucks, so she should talk to her mother about it when we get home.
