Can anyone tell me what the surrounding area of this address is like - is it average city or is it a scary area to be in? Thanks

194-202 Straight St Paterson, NJ

Scary.

If there one street name that evokes "bad neighborhood" in Paterson, it is Straight Street.

As a matter of fact, it is where the original Straight & Narrow rehab facility is located (run by Catholic Charities), a well-known rehab that goes back more than fifty years. From their own website:

It is the Straight & Narrow tradition to exercise both tolerance and inclusion in its admission process. We operate in those areas ravaged by crime, unemployment, squalor, disease, addiction and urban neglect. That we have remained in that neighborhood since inception in 1954, is testimony, not to expedience, but to an ongoing mission to serve the most medically indigent and chronic substance abusers in the state of New Jersey.

As is the usual question, why do you ask?

Although I can't comment on that particular street, my GF actually works 2 blocks from there and there's a big mall and Planet Fitness there. It's downtown Paterson. I've been in the area many times.

Scary in terms of what?

There was a news story about Paterson recently that said the area of Rosa Parks Blvd. and Godwin Avenue is a hot spot for shootings in the city. So I guess you could use that as a reference point...

Yeah I've been to that Lowe's. It's right off the highway and seemed fine to me.

202 Straight Street is near a bad area of Paterson, the fourth ward.

In fact, it's the worst section of Paterson. The Fourth Ward contains half the crime in the city. Bad area.
