Politics is all about politicians selling their power to the highest bidder. It has nothing to do with doing what's right. The big negotiation on legalization these days isn't about giving people their rights and stop locking up innocent people, it's about how much to tax it and where the money goes.

People are stupid, even if you don't get jail time. You will be arrested and given a court date which basically carries a fine anywhere from $500+. I was sitting in NJ court waiting for my motor vehicle tix to get heard and 70% of the cases were all young people and drugs. The judge even said, some folks were repeat offenders they were fined $1300 if I remembered and community service. Another kid who is actually Jewish had a lawyer which him was fined around $700. This all goes on your record if you were to apply for a job, you'll never get it any government jobs in the state or Federal. It's not worth it, you wanna smoke weed do it at your homes and don't get caught while driving plain and simple.

there aren't enough cops on the streets these days for cops to be charging adults with small quantities of weed. They're too busy with important things, they'll usually just toss it and let you go or write you a ticket...under 18, a different matter. Police supervisors make it clear they don't their cops tied up dealing with small amounts.

The legalization of pot will be on the ballot in November. However, the "progressive" legislature has written language into the proposal to legalize it which will allow them to spend years writing policy and procedures for dispensaries to actually sell recreational pot. Probably take 3-5 years after it's legalized before you can actually buy it. It will be approved in November.

Obviously driving properly & obeying the driving laws, clean criminal & driving record ?

I know NJ is still a little "stuck" on laws from 1960's ... anyone with first hand knowledge ? ( not opinions)

NJ has something called "Section 27" that they can give first time to persons in that situation but only if you or a lawyer know about it and ask for it. I think it wipes out the record if not caught again for a year or so, but just going off memory. In other words judge won't offer but you have to request it.

its funny how people generally think its ok to smoke marijuana but dont realize that anyone who enforces drug laws deserves to go to prison. any cop that arrests anyone for a drug crime has committed and actual crime and needs to be locked up. civilians need their own militant force to protect us from government abuse of our rights.
