Only bar I've been to in Morristown is long gone, Phoebe's well as some younger people might remember it as Jimmy's - Jimmy's Haunt. Well who cares now, it's a bank! Torn down a landmark and put up a bank.

Straight from Wikipedia.

Antoine le Blanc, a French immigrant laborer murdered the Sayre family and their servant (or possibly slave), Phoebe. He was tried and convicted of murder of the Sayres (but not of Phoebe) on August 13, 1833. On September 6, 1833, Le Blanc became the last person hanged on the Morristown Green. Until late 2006, the house where the murders were committed was known as "Jimmy's Haunt," which is purported to be haunted by Phoebe's ghost because her murder never saw justice. In 2007 Jimmy's Haunt was torn down to make way for a bank.

contrary to belief and to many people on here, Morristown is a pretty safe town. The crime rate has dropped in recent years. Yes it is populated by hispanics, not all illegal, and even if they are it does not matter. They are actually very hard working, very clean, decent people. No they do not cause trouble, and have not made the town worse. The area of morristown known as the "hollow" by locals used to be bad with alot of drugs and crime, but not anymore. The town put in bright street lights all the way up MLK blvd, and police patrol it constantly. It is actually better now, and safe to walk at anytime of the day. There is no "sleezy" or dirty party of Morristown. The whole town is clean and beautiful. Yes, there are many day laborers in the mornings around the train station, but they are great people, safe, and do not harrass or bother anyone. They are just talking to their friends, having coffee, looking for work. There is nothing wrong with that. Around Morristown, you find very little bad along with all the "great" the town has to offer. great restaurants, stores, and atmosphere. It is a great town, just a little expensive to live in.
Stacking, mostly by hispanics has almost come to a complete stop, since morristown has cracked down on it. Many Americans as well are "stacking" and many not realize it. If you even own your own home, you still can only have a certain amount of people, or as the town says "heart beats" per house. a 3 bedroom house can legally only have 6 heart beats. So, If your a family of 5 or 6 kids, and 2 parents, you are stacking. 6 kids, 2 parents = 8 people, 2 more than legal.
There is some crime in Morristown, but not that bad anymore. It used to be worse. There is drug activity, but that happens in every town, large and small in this country. There is good and bad in every town, and morristown has more good than bad. The hispanics are a great new change to morristown, and help bring the economy up. They work, and spend most of their money right here in town in restuarants, stores, and rent. Many, even illegals own their own houses now in Morristown.
So, the moral of the story is, Morristown is a great town to live, work, or to play in, Not dangerous at all, clean and safe. Now, (different than 10 years ago), you can walk anywhere in the town, day or night, even at 3 a.m., and you will be safe. There can be a crime committed, but that goes with any town. You just have to be careful and watch your back, and no, not from the hispanics, most won't bother you. There is good and bad in every nationality. Many Americans who do not know the hispanics, or dislike them speak bad about them, and want everyone else to believe their lies. I have friends of many nationalities, american, hispanic, European, ect ect, and love them all. This country is made of culture, and unless your 100% native american indian, you are not 100% american, and have also came from another country and culture.

Please stop putting this great town down, and start talking positive about morristown, and other people and cultures. If you cannot say anything positive, please do not speak at all about them. Talking bad about someone else makes you, yourself look terrible.
we are all equal. we are all human.

I have a strong affinity for our town and I certainly wouldn't want to leave but you really are sugarcoating it a bit too much. We've got our share of problems; your post sounds extremely naive.

Are you actually aware of Mexico's immigration policy? Not only is it a felonious crime to be an illegal alien in Mexico, they deport more illegal aliens than we do per year. The United States allows most foreign nationals to come into our country on a tourist visa, granted they leave at the end of their 90-day admittance.

Worst and most dangerous part of Morristown has got to be the county courthouse. Dishonest corrupt thieving public employees preying on innocent victims and feeding their lawyer friends. Stay away from there at all costs. You wouldn't expect that just walking by but that place is of the devil.
