And you think the government should mandate electric cars by 2035? Electric grid is as fragile as the utility poles around your town.

We are a few houses off the bay, pretty windy took part of our fence down. Long Beach Island had a 109 MPH gust which is about 10 miles away. crazy 6 hours later the bay calmed down and there were boats out.

The road before mine was littered with trees, huge mess. I did pretty good, no major debris on my property. I have the generator but internet and TV is down

Why does our state not do anything about trees that are at risk to fall during bad weather and take out powerlines, not to mention hurt people, cars and houses?

They will trim around these trees sometimes but why not just take them down?

Is it the recurring profit of just trimming? Is it the tree hugger aspect?

It just seems that the smart thing to do would be to cut down some of these risky trees.

No, how about those hugely profitable utility companies invest some of our $$ into their infrastructure ?

I live in California and boy, even though I miss NJ, I am still glad I don't live out East anymore. I don't have to deal with all this hurricane crap. My parents in North Jersey lost power and they will probably not have any for a week and they are stuck using a generator. They should just pay $3,000 to get an installed generator like most of people on my block.

Here on the West Coast where the weather is great, I would never even know that a hurricane even happened, because the weather is so stagnant and beautiful with weather in the mid-70s and nothing is "tropical influenced" like what you get back out East. Not even an earthquake has ever destroyed where I live out here.

Yeah my dad always taught me not to have trees close to the house, even if I live in a place that does not get snow or hurricanes. If those things fall, boom, you're dead or your house gets destroyed.
