Are there any other good places to buy a house in Middlesex county, NJ. Please recommend.

Is it good time to buy a house? and give some idea on market values and interest rates.
South Brunswick Twp. consists of Monmouth Jct., Kingston, Deans, Dayton. Personally I like the Monmouth Jct. area...... zip is 08852...... take a look at realtor.com.....raised my kids there.....one thing, though...... real estate taxes are high in NJ.

I see that this is a while ago... but anyway... I would not move to Monroe. I have lived here over 20 years and town has changed... Use to be a nice town. The deep dark secret in town is that the schools are not good. We took our daughter out of the school system a few years ago when she was in middle school when there was an incident on the school bus involving "oral sex". The schools are all overcrowded. Classes in trailers. When we took her out of school into a private school, her teachers said to us that "they were glad, because she was a good student, but they didn't have the time for her". West Windsor, not too far away, has a good school system.

We are looking at moving out of state. So if you are looking for an "estate", we have one. An old farm house, completely restored with quality items and acreage. If you're looking for a home that is not a cookie cutter, McMansion, this is it.

It's big though-do you know what area of Monroe you're looking in? Closer to Jamesburg? Spotswood? The schools are very good. They are trying to get the ok to take some land from one of the local parks to expand the high school. I'm assuming if you've already been looking into houses in the area you know what the prices are so I won't discuss that. Nevermind-I just re-read your post and saw you're looking for an estate home-you can defnately find something beautiful in Monroe. The Texas Road area has some fantastic homes back in there. Monroe is in kind of an odd spot as far as a commute anywhere is concerned. You can get to major highways (Rt. 18, Turnpike, Rt. 130), but it is just a little inconvenient because you have to drive through a couple of little towns to get to them. The town itself does not sit right next to any of these major road ways. That could be a plus though too, depending on what you are looking for and what kind of commute you are talking about. The taxes have been lower in Monroe (compared to other areas of Middlesex County), but I think they are starting to creep up.

I can't think of anything really negative to say about the town. I really like it. Good luck with your search. If you have any more specific questions, I'd be happy to help if I can.
