Whew, this is driving me nutto.
Gravy Boat is actually right here. It's not a rebate. It's not economic stimulus. It's welfare. There are people who haven't worked who are receiving a check. Conversely, the rebate has a sliding scale: the more you've earned, the less you get back. So, in effect, it's another transfer of money from people who have earned it, to people who really haven't earned anything. In other words, another grand old income redistribution scheme. Approved by, incidentally, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

Now, of course, there might have been a better alternative practical solution: lower the marginal income tax rates across the board, much the way it was done in 2001 and 2003. Those Bush tax cuts, that every socialist critic in the country was screaming about at the time, but in fact, were really the correct measure of action taken by the congress at that time. That's real relief, being able to keep more of the money you EARN in the first place. Those same tax cuts, by the way, that will expire, under a presumptive Obama presidency.

Just a friendly reminder.

Didnt Obama say he wanted to do more of these absurd hand outs in 2009?

I dont understand how an organization (ie. the US Government) can justify handing out money for no good reason when they are TRILLIONS of dollars in the hole.

Didn't get mine yet but I did get a letter yesterday saying I was only getting $300.00 not $600.00... I don't understand why this is...something to do with " ...2007 fed. income tax return is less than 300.00 and you had 3,000.00 or more in qualifying income, the amount of your stimulas is $300.00".. I have no idea what they mean by that but I'm sure a few more people in here may be getting the same dissapointing letter so don't spend it before you actually get as you may be getting less than you think!!
