libertarianism suffers from one of the main criticisms of communism - it looks great on paper, but it just doesn't work in practice.
Really? You don't think the US worked well before the socialist programs started in the early 1900's? Because the US was very much libertarian, in practice.
Id like to know how Communism looks good on paper?
Government assures that everyone has food to eat, a roof over their head, and adequate healthcare. Government regulating the economy removes the corporate drive for profit - so higher costs won;t affect the quality of the product, and there can be no such thing as price gouging, so everyone has a fair shot.

That doesnt look good on paper to any one who wants to better themselves.
The other part of the definition is Communism ensures there are no classes in a society. Meaning you dont reap rewards for drive and determination.
Communism looks terrible on paper and in the real world.

So everyone is "equal" and gets the "same". If the US had been this way when we started out as a country we would be an awful country now. If there is no "corporate drive for profit" we would not have even half of the inventions, advancements, etc. that we have today. Without competition and drive, we would be nothing more than a 2nd world nation at best. If I go to work and am guaranteed the same pay, food rations and healthcare regardless of the job I do, what incentive is there for me to work hard? What incentive would there be for a guy to work his butt off at a small business in hopes of turning it into a world leading business like a Microsoft or equivalent? There would be none.

Hey, I'm not saying I think it's a good system - I'm just highlighting the 'selling points' as they are presented to the people. And to some, especially in a country that has little economic growth and sever class divisions, that sounds like a good deal.

Yep - pretty much why it didn't work in the soviet union. Plus, it doesn't work so well in a global economy and you are a landlocked (for all intents and purposes) country with little exports.

well if he wins, I'll bet we will be heading back to vietnam! Bush resumed dad's fight with Iraq - "in the name of the Father" his father!...McCain has a bone to pick with Vietnam..mark my words, we will be heading there next if McCain wins! Lets face it, there's not one person running that's worth any of our votes. Any decent, intelligent person would not even consider running!!! It's an ego based race. It's all about control... not wanting to make this country a better place!
Do you really think that McCain has "a bone to pick with Vietnam?" I seriously doubt it. Trust me, he will have enough issues to fix, he would not be so daft as to start anything in Vietnam. I however, would want to go and kick some a$$ if I had been treated as inhumanely as he was. He however, shows more restraint than me, so therefore I will not be seeking the office.
