That's just what I was thinking of.

South NJ has the best beaches of course.

Northern NJ has tons of boony, more conservative places too, so it's kind of a misnomer.

Really, there's a swath between NYC and Philly, and then it kind of varies as you fan out...

It's really what you prefer...

I remember at the time of the 2016 election, maybe on the World forum, some Dutch guy said, "Some of you Americans are whining about your left-wing party. You don't HAVE a left-wing party. You have a right-wing party and a far-right-wing party."

It still makes me laugh. It's true in the eyes of the rest of the world.

I think if the last four years have taught us anything, it is how irrelevant the office of POTUS really is.

Some people like chocolate ice cream, some people like vanilla ice cream, and some people don't like ice cream. When someone criticizes someone who likes chocolate, and says no, you are wrong, there's nothing good about chocolate ice cream, chocolate ice cream sucks, and so on -- that's just foolish. That's not a discussion or difference of opinion. Not at all. It speaks volumes about the person saying those things -- not about the person who likes chocolate ice cream.

Funny on peoples perspective, when I grew up in South Jersey I never considered South Jersey the shore. The shore was the shore, and South Jersey is the suburbs of Philadelphia to the Pinelands. Now people from North Jersey consider anything south, south jersey and many have no idea of the existence of the suburbs of Philadelphia.

Having experienced the whole state, I'm telling you North Jersey is just a horrid place to live. There's always traffic. Stores and parking no matter where you go are so crowded and frustrating. Seriously your costco on a tuesday afternoon is like our costco in south jersey on black Friday.

Everything is on top of each other, it's sooo overpriced.

You need to break free... the Bay area in South Amboy was okay, but south jersey is miles away better all around.

That is all, rant over...
Thanks for your rant, but if someone has been affected by COVID-19 and all they can afford is North Jersey due to the current NYC exodus yet still be close, then it is not a horrible place to live. And you don't need to live in a rich area, there are plenty of middle-class towns that are affordable with good schools. You can't compare living in Hudson county (similar to living in NYC) where everyone is on top of each other vs. Union county where you get a little more for your money and have some separation....

Where are all these “affordable” middle-class towns with good schools in North Jersey?

South NJ has a similar effect like the Hamptons. Decades ago nobody cares about the Hamptons until the movie stars started flocking there due to how secluded it was. Now people are flocking to South NJ because of the beaches, it's more accessible than the Hamptons. So it's possible in another decade South NJ by the shores will become Hamptons like. Just look at many water front properties right now, they quadrupled faster than NNJ properties. Some $200k properties last 5 years are now worth well over $700k
