Having experienced the whole state, I'm telling you North Jersey is just a horrid place to live. There's always traffic. Stores and parking no matter where you go are so crowded and frustrating. Seriously your costco on a tuesday afternoon is like our costco in south jersey on black Friday.

Everything is on top of each other, it's sooo overpriced.

You need to break free... the Bay area in South Amboy was okay, but south jersey is miles away better all around.

That is all, rant over...
Thank you for your input. I lived in Bergen county for the last twelve years and I like it. And btw, we are in what passes as middle class town with a train station. I am pretty sure that millionaires don't live here. But where else in the Tri State area can you live within walking/biking distance from the train station without being in a wealthy town? That is almost impossible to find in other parts of our region.

For someone who came from NYC, Queens, being crowded is a matter of opinion. Compared to Queens, Bergen county is practically empty. But there is a lot of to do here for the kids/families and if we get bored of suburbia, we take a train to Manhattan. We know when and where to drive so that we don't get stuck in traffic. And we do not go to Costco or any stores in a mall. There are plenty of excellent local grocery/fruit/vegetables stores where we buy our food that are all accessible by the local roads.

I can name quite a few in NJ, just not a lot in Bergen County.

I live in NJ and don't particularly enjoy visiting NYC... but I really like having the access to train stops. You can go from Cranford to Somerville for like $5 and explore a whole new city. NJ's biggest strength imho, is having train station towns where you can travel to different cities in NJ and explore them. I do it a lot.

Absolutely, but you don't know what you don't know. It's one thing to post your opinion on a message board, but if you go beyond that, then you are just plain stupid. There is such a thing as "suicide by mod".

You forgot good schools. The best schools in the world. Schools that will make their average kid an Einstein.

I also forgot to include the truly laughable posts from people living in states with very high rates of violent crime--like South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisiana--asking if NJ is as safe as their home state.

You could live 45 minutes from the city instead of 15 mins away. It's still expensive, but not as expensive and not as congested.

Schools are good in North Jersey, it's VERY convenient in terms of accessible transportation, grocery stores, highways, doctors, Ubers, and you have almost anything you want at your fingertips. Is it pricey? Yes, and it doesn't sound like it's worth it, but it is (despite the congestion, traffic, and density)

Yeah once you drop off 45 minutes away from NYC you get some pretty sweet deals under 2k.
