If people ever went on COBRA when they are laid off or leave a company, they'll see how much their employers are actually paying on their behalf for health insurance.

Yes its ridiculous. Whole system needs an overhaul and it's also imo past time to separate insurance from employment.
The plans are subsidized on Getcovered.com. Did you put your estimated income in? I put $45,000 in and my share was $323 a month for a $700 a month plan, at age 58.
.
I'm several years younger, entering $30-35k income,. single, non-smoker in good health and cheapest plan shows $550 month. Maybe because I didn't enter any deductions? Not sure how much to list on projected earnings.

That is the premium cost, but then they subsidize a portion of that based on your income. My policy was $700 a month but I’m 58, so it makes sense yours would be a $150 less... but then for $45,000 income they pay $357 of that and I pay $343.00. I assume with lower income they will pay a larger portion of yours.
I had a hard time projecting too cause I had just been laid off. You just have to make your best guess. If your income ends up being higher than you estimate you will owe a portion of the subsidy back next year at tax time (however if you get a higher paying job you can change your income). If your income ends up being lower than you estimated you’ll get a tax credit to make up the amount the subsidy should have been with the lower income.

Then it should be around $200/mth which is what I remember seeing awhile back. Good to hear! Thank you!!
When I went to getcovered.nj.gov website this morning, I found that I did not have an access code.
They did not email one to me although I had multiple emails from them informing me of the open enrollment period.
I called the toll-free number and was connected with 10 minutes or so.
Once I logged in I find that they had already enrolled me in the same HBCBSNJ plan as last year.
This explained the unexpected ID cards I received last week from HBCBSNJ.
why not ask Door Dash where the other drivers get their insurance>
You can also go to Youtube, there are quite a few Uber,Lyft,Uber eat drivers post their results,I dont recall they mention health insurance ??
