So your family just calls them to lock you up overnight until you sober up? That's good.

Got some good news a little while ago. My older brother's family changed their mind about joining us for mother's day. So the other mothers in the family can enjoy their day in peace.

one big problem with the drama is my mom is always the one targeted even though my mom is the nicest person there is and never looks for trouble. but that also makes her the easiest target and punching bag.
Every year, my mother-in-law has a big thing at her house. She has 3 kids with families, and her husband has 2 kids with families, so there is usually about 30 people there, and she has it catered. There is usually some family drama, but there are enough people there that it is easily avoidable by just moving to a different area and talking to other people.

This year, we just found out that she decided to stay at her house in Florida during Mother's Day. I have always wanted to try the Mother's Day dinner at my country club, but I never could because I was committed to going to my in-law's house, so this year, we are going to spend Mother's Day at the club. But it will be just my family, so the drama shouldn't be any more than it is on any random day that we have dinner together as a family.

No Mother's Day for me this year. I thought I wouldn't be around so my daughter made other plans, and that's OK.

In past years, my BIL would treat us to a brunch at a country club near their house, but between my mother's death, COVID, and his own physical decline (MS) it just isn't happening.

Don't drink but you're not one for facts anyway. Glade to hear the restraining order on you was dropped so you can celebrate.

Thanks. I don't think I'm going to have a great day until this whole selling-my-late-Mom's-house mess is over with.

Thanks, Ma, for getting a water heater installed without a permit. No flowers for your grave!

I shouldn't complain too much. We got a buyer right away despite the condition of the house and it's gone relatively smoothly compared to some stories I've heard. But my co-executor is in the hospital and the rest of the siblings except one are of no help.

I'm just curious as to why Mother's Day became part of the Thanksgiving thread.
