Studio or 1 BR will be fine.

I work in Manhattan so I would like to live somewhere close to the city.

How successful will I be looking for an apartment in Jersey City? What areas would fit me? With my income will I be able to live comfortably? or will I be living on the edge? Also, please help recommend other areas? Lastly, whats the best method of looking for an apartment? This is my first time. Also, is there anything I should be cautious about?

Journal Square?
Downtown/Newport with Roommate?

Years ago, I found a private landlord on craigslist. They had a house in downtown, and the first floor was a 1BR apartment. This was back in 2008, and I was making a similar amount. I paid $1,300 for that apartment.
