Hello,

My wife has been unemployed since July 2020. She is also pregnant and due in late July. She exhausted her 26 weeks of UE benefits in January and is now receiving the PEUC benefits which were recently extended until September 6, 2021. Will the 20 week NJ extension be able to be tacked on to the end of the PEUC benefits that expire September 6?

Also, I see NJ has something called unemployment while on maternity leave. Is this something she could access between the end of PEUC on September 6 and the beginning of the NJ 20 week extension?

Sorry if this has been answered before. I have searched the forum and everyone has a different situation. This is the first time either of us have ever been on UI so we are not very familiar with maximizing the benefits.

for anyone who is interested, our company rate we previously paid for unemployment was 1.6%. we just got the new rate and it is 3.1%. however, the state "bailled out" employers by taking away some of the benefits paid out on our account, if they didnt do that the rate would be 6.6%.

a lot of the unemployment was fraudulent.

20 months of unemployment benefits?

That is some serious government aid.

I was actually hoping to get laid off, but didn't happen.

In the past, it's been the 26 weeks plus I think 20 weeks fed if the economy is doing REALLY bad. With COVID, and from what I'm reading it seems like there's no limit to the benefits. Just keep applying.
