been wanting to hear some input on this. the thought of paying $20+ ez toll per day sounds like it may adversely affect the economics of Northern NJ. perhaps lowering mid tier property values or push up prices in fast time commuter towns including Newark and JC. HOB. There seems to be no indication of a discount for NJ drivers already paying a PA toll .

I only wish there was some revenue share with NJT and PATH instead of all of it going to MTA.

From what I understand, a discount for those paying the PA toll has always been part of the plan. Saw a presentation on this by Sam Schwartz a couple of years ago, and I think it was mentioned, plus I saw another by Cuomo after that. It was a breakfast in the city with me, Andrew and about 900 of our other best friends.

(Actually, it was an ABNY breakfast event, and my employer sent me.)

There have been many increases to tolls over the years. Has any one of those ever led to declining property values? Sounds like this really only impacts people who drive into the city through the GWB. I can’t imagine that being a significant number of people.

agreed

I think if rail infrastructure was in place all the way to PA and there wasn't a corrupt and inept NY government, I'd be fine with congestion pricing.

But there isn't. Also, what about the handicapped people that need to drive in?

OK, This article refreshed my memory. Drivers through the HT and LT will not pay the additional toll, but those over the GWB will.

Funny, I was in NYC last week with the family to see an event. Almost no one there in the middle of the day on a Wednesday. Mostly us and a bunch of homeless people, pretty sad. I guess things will pick up sooner or later, but I think the tax will just stop the people they want to come from coming. I didn’t drive in and probably never will, but I am sure they will put in a bunch of loopholes (for poor people or residents or whatever) and there will just be as many cars in there as there are now, just some people making money off of others with “services”
