Do/did people really walk around outside with masks on ? I get the wearing of the mask in a store when the virus was out of control but people outside with no one around wearing a mask is a bit bizarro.
so i was standing on the street in brooklyn the other day and did a quick count of people walking by me with or without masks. i counted 30 or so people and the % with masks on was 75%.
I am also baffled by people who wear masks in the car. I spray my mask every time I take it off when I get back in the car. Spent a small fortune on cloth masks but couldn't breath through the "high quality" cotton material, so I went back to disposables.
I think they're useful and they worked, but the thought of having to wear one forever makes me suicidal.

I walk at a large park. When on the wooded trails (there are also asphalt paths around the open fields) some people were putting on masks as they approached others, but that has decreased since I was walking there in the fall. Most of the time we just step off the path a bit and let the other person go first.
However, last week on the wooded path an entire family approached, father, mother, kid and dog, and everyone but the dog had a mask on. They didn't put it on as they approached, they were wearing them the whole time. I found that odd, especially since they were youngish people.
I see people walking around my neighborhood, sometimes with dogs, sometimes without, but almost no one is wearing a mask, which is why the guy going to his mailbox caught my eye.

It is the young-ish people where you could most legitimately say, "Why are you wearing a mask?"

why would i say that to them? i dont care why they are wearing a mask. them wearing a mask doesnt impact me one tiny bit. i dont even give a thought to them and their masks (or people not wearing masks). i want them to do what they want to do and i want to be left to do what i want.
