So I moved to a new address a few weeks ago and updated my address online with the post office and the NJMVC at the time. Since then, I have not received mail that was sent to me (even items like a birthday card from my parents which was written directly to my new address and not my old one with a forwarding). The lack of mail of any kind seems suspicious. Should I also be expecting a new drivers license and vehicle registration card in the mail, or is that not a thing? Are things just backed up and slower than usual because of COVID? Any advice or tales of similar experience are greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you have the right zipcode? NJ is very weird in some of these towns, my mailing address zipcode is different than the zip code for my taxes/paperwork for my house. For whatever reason USPS will not deliver mail with the other zipcode, and I personally have a had a lot of mortgage paperwork never delivered.

I moved almost months ago. Mail that was properly addressed to the new house took months to arrive. I have no clue what we lost in the meantime. Mail that was addressed to the old house - which had an address change submitted and paid for on time - also kept going there for awhile. It took about 2-3 months for mail to flow to the new address.

Visit your local post office to check. And sign up for USPS Informed Delivery, so you can get an email every morning informing you of your expected mails for the day. That might get you more insights.

I have the informed delivery, and it shows me what I should expect to receive. And yet it doesn’t show up at our house.

I went to my new post office. They were holding all of my mail. The carrier was not delivering because they did not know we had actually moved in. They will start delivering now.

Now as for my license and registration…
