There were several things. I will share what I remember. (Perhaps I should preface by.. me, as a Patriotic individual.. Idealistically Conservative and yes I will vote R because it beats the D prefix, even if the party sucks and we need Trump again.... so, from this lens and realizing in the lesser of two evils, let me continue.)
One of the first statements made that REALLY got my "This is a scam" statements up was, "I would love to find a reliable person, someone that can take care of this place with two or three others so that I can go to the homeless encampment in Missouri for about four months and this place will still be here." This got a look, Retriever's favorite look, maybe? of
/// or is it
-- I was puzzled. I said.. "What, like a commune?" He said, "No, more like an off the grid community." I was like.. "Oh." (Okay..) .. "and you want to go to this place?" Him: "Oh, it's required." (yes, he used the word
required.) He then went on to tell me the perfection of a commune, and referenced the Jews as the "example of the perfect society." (Will add, because I know I share this forum and don't own it. I have no problem with Jews. None. None at all. Quite the opposite. I wish they would accept Christ, this is about the only thing they do not do correctly, accept the New Testament, they reject it. However, wanted to get that out of the way.)
Back to this individual This was my first clues that: 1. Dude prefers community over everyone doing for their own. Thinks it is required. 2. Dude wants to jump ship, probably about whoever he is living off of pulls the plug on the property. Kind of like in Dayton Ohio, 2020. But let me continue.
You asked "How I determined he was socialist" so I will continue.
Two. After telling me how Jews are an example of a "perfect society," then goes on to tell me how a certain World War 2 German leader had "the right idea on most things." That was two.
Three. Always dropping little hints of extreme Bernie Sanders-like Progressivism/Liberalism. Such as giving me the side-eye when I mentioned I listen to Glenn Beck. Told me Bush headed the conspiracy to do 9-11 (like, full blown "Bush blew up the towers for power and oil" conspiracy. Pushed it on me multiple times. I can only imagine how MightyQueen801 feels about that. I already know.) Also goes on to tell me Religion is "man-made" and used for world power and control, citing specifically the Roman Catholic church. To which I replied.. I am not Catholic, thanks. (It was our heated conversation about Evolution/Life came from Nothing vs. Creationism/Everything including Science came from a
created universe and therefore his belief is consistent with mine... that made me leave. That, and the two handguns. I won't name them.)
Fourth was just the way I once bought food from Walmart, not for just me but for him/whoever/he liked to cook so I got some food, namely cheese and bread. He then went on to belittle me really, really bad that the cheese "Wasn't good enough" (because it came from Walmart,) I got the wrong bread.. I mean, this was the type of person that can turn the smallest thing and turn it against you. Which, again, set off my fraud senses:
True sociopath. Run. (It was clear he was also trying to show himself as superior, since we were getting along based on intelligence. That all went away when it became clear I believe in God, and would not abandon my beliefs for him. I tried to go gently but he wasn't having any of it.. Tried to throw out some commonalities, also alluding to how he honestly expected me to believe the plot of Zeitgeist, as I am not an idiot..) Kind of like dealing with a devil...
Then there was the whole thing about how he only wanted me to pay in cash. That was a HUGE problem for me. And why I walked the first time. Okay, well, I walked again and there will not be a third...
This was an extremely Socialist individual that would make Bernie Sanders proud.
Sorry about the long post.
I never got any mail there, either. Thank God.
