Why are you bringing facts from infectious disease experts into this? I did some Googling this morning, and then talked to my buddy who watches ER. /s

In all seriousness, there is a ton of misinformation floating around social media. It's actually terrifying. While I'm not for "mandatory" vaccines, I am for vaccine checks to do things in crowded spaces. And am definitely in favor for health care workers, as they are coming into contact with the most vulnerable of the population.

Well, in the past 2 weeks, both my daughter (fully vaccinated, moderna) and her husband (fully vaccinated, pfizer), both became EXTREMELY ILL from delta. both are under 30, both have no preexisting conditions.

Daughter had fever of 102 that would not go down (visit to ER for 12 hours). her husband, same, but ended up being admitted due to his heart becoming enlarged. NO PRIOR HEART ISSUES.

I got J&J, and right now i'm wondering why the hell i bothered.

I no longer believe any of the bullsh** we are being fed.

It's NOT mandatory, it's actually a choice of vaccine OR weekly testing. All of the facilities I worked in were testing all the employees once a week, a few of them tested twice a week. They stopped doing it when numbers when down and more employees and patients were vaccinated. So now they'll just weekly test the employees that aren't vaccinated instead of all of them.

New Jersey will require all workers in hospitals, long-term care centers, prisons, and a number of other state and private health-care facilities and high-risk congregate settings to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or be subject to repeated testing, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday.

I agree it's a hardship, but our numbers of patients crash-dived during Covid, no one wanted their husband or mother in a facility for rehab. We have one patient going home this weekend who won't let us set up home health because she's afraid they'll bring Covid into the house. So it's going to cost homes a little money to test some employees weekly, or way more money if they get an outbreak and have to close to admissions.

They never promised anyone we were 100% protected from variants. They said chances were better with vaccine but they never fed us anything like "there's zero chance any variant can get past the vaccine". J&J was actually shown to be less effective against variants, and that was publicized.

It's a brand new vaccine/disease, I am not sure how you would expect them to know anything for certain regarding protection. Everyone is learning as they go.

Only at the state facilities. I think it's a pretty important thing to test for. I guarantee all of them were weekly testing all during Covid.

Murphy's decision is so stupid!

The corona virus is not being spread at hospitals and health facilities.

The virus is being transmitted at locations outside the health facilities by people not wearing masks at shopping malls, grocery stores, casinos dining locations, etc.

Corona virus cases continues to rise. Wearing masks will help stop the spread.

Of course Murphy won't order a mask mandate because he is running for reelection and doesn't want to pee off the voters.

You don’t think health care workers go to grocery stores, casinos, dining? We are still getting COVID positive people coming in. If new patients (don’t forget nursing homes are not isolated we get short term rehab patients all the time) aren’t vaccinated they are isolated for two weeks but the staff has to go in and out of their rooms then go to other patients.

Glad they were vaccinated. It probably saved their lives. The vaccine's job is to help build immunity, not provide a blanket protection from any future variants for life.

Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are 96% effective at preventing severe disease with the COVID-19 virus caused by the delta variant. J&J is 85% effective. Whichever one takes, is far better than none at all.

Hospitals already have mandatory vaccines, this is nothing new. You have to have a flu shot, MMR, Hep B among others. Without having these, you can’t work.
