He's the only one on the list I never heard of. But I for sure never heard of most of the people they're named after now. I think it's a cool idea, people from out of state will get a mini-education on famous people from NJ.
Woke, how? They aren't renaming parks named after confederate generals, they're re-naming rest stops named after people no one knows and naming them after more well-known people. But I hardly think there' anything "Un-woke" if that's a word, to having a rest stop named after a poet or author.
You might have a point if they were renaming them all after minorities, or famous LBGTQ people, but since the list is diverse and features white males prominently, I think your position needs some explanation.
When I was in college, we had T-shirts with David Letterman-style Top 10 lists; one of the entries was "Top Alumni: Connie Chung" (yeah, we were bad at Latin -- I'm pretty sure it did not say "Alumna"). This was wrong, she was #2 at the time (Jim Henson was #1) and #3 now, but I appreciate the spirit and the rest stop.
